herbe assist · module
Admin settings
Your Claude key, the model, a daily limit per person, rules for everyone and a monthly look at usage and cost. Only organisation admins can change them.
You hold the key and the budget
The in-app assistant runs on your organisation's own Claude key.
In the assistant's settings
Rules, usage and AI decisions
- Clearing the key stops the assistant for everyone in the organisation
- Without the AI decisions switched on, all tools are offered and messages are not checked
- Organisation rules
Extra instructions the assistant follows for everyone. They are saved as versions, with a diff and a restore.
- Usage this month
Messages, people who used it, tokens and a cost estimate.
- AI decisions
Set the manipulation guard and tool choice to Off, Quiet or On, with a journal and a CSV download.
In herbe ID
Who gets AI, and how private it is
AI is off for every app until an admin switches it on, per person and per app. Bulk buttons turn it on or off for everyone in one go.
- An AI switch per app
A new access starts with AI off, so giving access never opens AI by itself.
- The AI privacy mode
Not offered, Person chooses or Always on for anonymous mode.
- End a connection
Disconnect a person's agents, and see in the audit log why someone could not connect.
How to start
Add the Claude key
On the assistant's Settings page, paste your organisation's key and press Test.

Start with balanced and the default daily limit; change them when you see the usage.

Choose the apps and people, and the AI privacy mode.
Questions about admin settings
Do we need our own Claude key?
For the in-app assistant, yes. Until an admin adds it, the assistant says it is not set up yet.
How do we see what it costs?
The settings show usage for the month: messages, people, tokens and a cost estimate. Your Anthropic bill is the exact figure.
Who can change these settings?
Only organisation administrators.
What does Quiet mean for AI decisions?
The assistant asks and records the answer, but behaves as if it had not asked. It lets you see what a switch would do before you turn it on.
Where do I switch AI on for a person?
In herbe ID, under the person's app access. AI is off for every app until you turn it on.
